In their spare time three vigilantes, childhood friends, enjoy patrolling the U.S./Mexican border. But these youths soon learn that even the most guarded borders are permeable. When the lines between fantasy and reality become dangerously blurred, these young men are forced to decide what it means to be an American, and who has the right to belong.
First Rehearsal: July 8 2019
Tech Rehearsals: August 5-7
Community Preview: August 8
Opening Night: August 9
Industry Night: August 19
Closing NIght: August 31
Show runs Thursday-Saturday nights at 8PM
Sundays at 3PM
Possibility for additional mid-week performances depending on demand and availability
Rehearsals and performances take place at Joe’s Movement Emporium in Mount Rainier, MD. Please note that Joe’s is not metro accessible.
Actors will also be asked to be available June 15th for a fundraiser which will include a reading of a short section of the play.
***Please Note*** This play contains adult content including acts of violence, guns, partial nudity, simulated sexual activity/assault, simulated masturbation, homosexual contact, racist, xenophobic, homophobic and misogynist language.There will be no violence or sexual contact in the audition process/callbacks. Full scripts will be made available to all of those actors receiving callbacks. This production will have a violence and intimacy choreographer.
Character Breakdown:
George: White. Wants to Belong. Impressionable. Does what he is told.
Greg: Mexican-American. This identity defines him in many ways. Within him, a border. Torn.
David: White. The Ringleader. Upper Middle Class. Some College Education. Intelligent. Aggressive.
All three characters are 18-25. College aged. Should look young.
Please prepare One 2-Minute dramatic contemporary monologue. Sides will be provided for callbacks.
All roles paid
Callbacks will be held the first half of April. We anticipate the casting process will be complete no later than April 30.

Dhana and The Rosebuds

Dhana and the Rosebuds, follows a young Syrian woman pursuing her science career in NYC as she tries to forget her complicated past. But when she thinks she recognizes her estranged grandmother on a TV news report highlighting Syrian refugees crossing the Macedonia/Serbia border, she decides to go find her. Her international journey results in a spiritual rediscovery of her roots, her identity, and the reason why she left it all behind.
The first part of this process will involve a spring workshop with members of the Syrian Community to develop and devise performance pieces based on shared stories. A traditional rehearsal schedule will begin in late September/early October.
Tech week will begin October 27th. A community preview performance will be held on Friday November 1st. Opening night is Saturday November 2nd. The show will run November 2nd through November 23 Thursday-Saturday at 8PM, 3PM on Sundays. Industry night and additional weeknight performances may be added depending on demand and availability.
